Tamara Hein is a wildlife photographer and animal advocate whose journey spans continents and species. Born in Germany and raised in Washington, D.C., she later settled in Florida, where her passion for animal science and photography came together in an unexpected way—through duck rescues and hands-on wildlife advocacy.
Tamara specializes in in situ animal portraiture, capturing native and non-native wildlife in their natural environments. Her work aims to present each subject with dignity and truth, offering viewers an intimate look into the lives of animals often overlooked or misunderstood.
In addition to wildlife portraiture, Tamara creates evocative water imagery—visual meditations that reflect water’s vital role in sustaining all life.
She currently lives in Tampa with her husband, Bob, and their beloved rescue ducks: Olivia, Sunny, Bodhi, George, and Dory.
